Sep 21, 2023 at 7:26 PMThe Lübeck Port Company has been awarded the prestigious “Award for Reflective Governance Practice” at the “Future Salon Public Corporate Governance” of Zeppelin University Friedrichshafen. Background: Corporate governance refers to all the rules and laws by which a company is managed.
(Lübeck/Friedrichshafen) “The LHG thrives on the trust of the city of Lübeck, which holds all shares in the company,” explains Managing Director Prof. Dr. Sebastian Jürgens, who accepted the award. “I am very pleased that Zeppelin University recognizes our exemplary organizational management on a scientific basis, and it shows our owner how responsibly we handle this trust.” Furthermore, the award documents the efficient collaboration between the city and the LHG.
For Lübeck’s Mayor Jan Lindenau, the award means “supporting the fundamental philosophy of the city of Lübeck, according to which we can treat companies in private legal form, which are 100 percent owned by the Hanseatic city, like companies and not like a subordinate service agency – without questioning the goals and values of the city.”
Award from an Expert Commission
The award was granted by an expert commission under the scientific chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Ulf Papenfuß from the Chair of Public Management & Public Policy at Zeppelin University and was sponsored by the auditing firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
