As an e-book, it is already available in the usual bookstores. The hardcover print version will follow soon and can be pre-ordered. Various authors examine the transformation of logistics, which accelerated during and after the Corona pandemic but had already begun earlier. The book is published by SpringerGabler.
(Dortmund) For centuries, the task of logistics has been to transport goods of all kinds by land, water, and air to their destinations. With the beginning of the 3rd millennium, the scope of the logistics industry is expanding to all moving objects, whether material or immaterial. In a reversal of traditional logic, it is increasingly becoming the intention of logistics to avoid the transport of goods and other material items in order to minimize the burden on humans and the environment. Digital technologies, new drive systems, and innovative business models will lead to a logistics that presents itself not as a brake but as a control center for environmentally conscious management of the supply of goods, raw materials, energy, and information to the population. The contributions of this book vividly analyze the upcoming changes and explore forward-looking perspectives for the logistics industry.
