Jul 6, 2023 at 6:48 PMExperts from politics, research, and industry will discuss new approaches for environmentally friendly commercial goods transport on July 18 and 19, 2023. The focus is on simultaneously achieving economic efficiency and sustainability.
(Jena) Since 2013, the SMART CITY LOGISTICS congress series has presented itself as a platform for current and future developments in the field of sustainable commercial transport. The format brings together professionals from science and industry as well as users and highlights various aspects of urban logistics and transport. This includes not only new vehicle concepts and their practical application but also digitalization, infrastructure, and charging technology as essential focal points. A vehicle exhibition and the opportunity for test drives round off the program. The congress will once again take place at the Volkshaus Jena on July 18 and 19, 2023.
Ten years have passed since the first congress, but its central themes have lost none of their relevance. Especially in light of current debates about renewable energy resources, alternative drive concepts, and the expansion of corresponding infrastructure, the event sees itself as a catalyst for new ideas and their practical implementation. On behalf of the organizers, Thomas Becker, Managing Director of the Jena-based IT company DAKO GmbH, emphasizes: “I am particularly pleased that this platform has already become a fixed date in the annual calendar for many participants and actively involved individuals, and that our network is experiencing steady growth. Because it is precisely the diversity of people represented here, who actively think ahead and act instead of adorning themselves with ‘greenwashing fig leaves,’ that gives hope for the future in light of the massive challenges of the present.”

Diversity in Content Design
This diversity is also reflected in the content design of this year’s conference program. The focus of the first day of the congress is on impulses that address a holistic view of smart logistics concepts. The corresponding expert presentations aim to show perspectives on how alternative drives, infrastructure, and digital solutions can be thought of as a unit and translated into profitable business practices. The second day of the event is also entirely dedicated to smart and sustainable city logistics. From the perspectives of research, logistics companies, and IT developers, it will be demonstrated how cooperative networks can simultaneously realize new market opportunities and ecological added value.
Opportunities for Individual Dialogues in a Special Atmosphere
In addition to the official presentations and discussions, the special atmosphere of the SMART CITY LOGISTICS Congress thrives on the many opportunities for individual dialogue and exploring future visions and cooperation opportunities. Time and space are consciously created for a lively conversation culture among like-minded individuals – both during breaks and at the congress dinner at the end of the first day of the event.
