ROSTOCK PORT Concentrates Office Locations for Port Development
Jul 1, 2023 at 5:50 PMThe successfully established business area Logistics-as-a-Service (LaaS) within ONOMOTION GmbH will transition to pickshare GmbH on July 1, 2023. Through this strategic decision, both companies are focusing on their core business: The Berlin-based E-Cargobike pioneer ONOMOTION is concentrating on the development of E-Cargobikes for the B2B market. The last-mile expert pickshare from Dortmund is now scaling sustainable circular processes in city logistics. The market for customized and sustainable logistics is growing in terms of both manufacturers and the demand for services from end customers.
(Berlin/Dortmund) The business unit Logistics-as-a-Service (LaaS) has been successfully established under the leadership of Benjamin Federmann at ONOMOTION. With LaaS, an efficient, sustainable logistics service for companies that want to hand over their logistics processes to a reliable service provider is conveniently bookable, also as a white-label solution. The core team, consisting of Benjamin Federmann, Carsten Leverenz, and Tim Dierselhuis, has already successfully established this concept with many customers and partners. The growing business will now be integrated with the team at the Dortmund last-mile startup pickshare to enable more focused and faster growth on both sides and to leverage synergies.
Added value for all parties involved
The managing directors Björn Marc Paulus of pickshare and Beres Seelbach of ONOMOTION agree that this step offers enormous added value. “It is the right time to scale with LaaS. We have successfully built the business. Now it is time to scale this with a specialist. Both companies will focus on their core business and thus offer the right solutions for the growing customer base of sustainable city logistics,” says Beres Seelbach, Co-CEO and co-founder of ONOMOTION. Björn Marc Paulus emphasizes: “We are pleased to gain competent reinforcement in this field with the integration of the LaaS business unit and the associated team, positioning pickshare in the current market environment. This allows us to offer our customers a comprehensive range of sustainable delivery services, city hubs, emission-free vehicles, and fully integrable software systems. Thus, we cover the entire value chain from emission-free parcel services to ship-from-store as well as e-commerce and e-grocery to fully integrated omnichannel services equally.”
New Summer Edition from ONOMOTION
ONOMOTION is launching a new version of its electric cargo bike ONO. The new ONO Summer Edition is available until the end of September at lower monthly rates than the previous model, with prices starting at 499 euros net per month, including service and maintenance.
The offer from ONOMOTION applies to selected cities such as Hamburg, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Bochum, and Magdeburg. Additionally, a number of changes have been implemented in the new version that enhance user comfort and make the ONO an efficient alternative for use in a wide range of applications in the service sector, including various trades, facility management, or intralogistics.
Improvements to the container module
One of the most important innovations is an even more adaptable container module. With options for intermediate floors, better loading organization, clothing racks, and integrated Sortimo shelving solutions, customers can tailor their container precisely to the respective application. Other significant changes include improved ergonomics for more riding comfort throughout the day and the ability for flexible entry and exit on both sides of the vehicle. This makes the ONO suitable not only for use on narrow streets but also in businesses or warehouses. Additionally, the ONO can be driven without a driver’s license.
With these improvements, the ONO advances from a sustainable and more efficient alternative to conventional gasoline and diesel transporters in the KEP sector (courier, express, and parcel services) to a vehicle tailored to the needs of various service sectors. At the same time, it is a direct response to the increasing on-demand nature in these industries, enabling employees to accomplish more tasks per day with less stress.
Also suitable for craftsmen
For example, electricians, painters, or plumbers can conveniently and safely store all their equipment, such as tools, buckets, or ladders, in the ONO container and drive right to their customers’ doorsteps—without time loss due to traffic jams or parking searches. The same applies to intralogistics. ONOs can now be used very efficiently for the picking/de-picking of materials within or between warehouses on large factory premises.
“When we founded ONO, our goal was to create a truly tailored, emission-free cargo bike solution primarily for last-mile logistics,” says Co-CEO Beres Seelbach. “With the Summer Edition, we go beyond that. In developing the new model, we took a lot of industry-specific feedback into account and are convinced that it will provide our customers with a far better experience than traditional fuel-powered transporters,” adds Co-CEO Philipp Kahle.
Emission-free transport solution
ONO vehicles were first brought to the streets in commercial use in November 2020 and have since been rolled out in many major German cities. ONOMOTION’s customers include industry giants such as UPS, DPD, and MEWA. The customized E-cargo bikes provide an emission-free transport solution for industries that have previously relied on oversized and operationally expensive transport vehicles with combustion engines.
