Logistics Day 2023
Mar 2, 2023 at 3:55 PMThe Austrian system integrator TGW Logistics Group has founded a start-up called PLANCISE, which develops innovative software for personnel and shift planning in distribution centers. The flexible, powerful tool addresses the challenges that many companies in the industry currently face.
(Marchtrenk) A comprehensive software portfolio plays a central role in TGW’s offerings: from TGW Warehouse Software, which allows for the planning, control, monitoring, and optimization of all processes in a fulfillment center, to the implementation of SAP EWM® and digital products and services. With PLANCISE, the intralogistics specialist now presents another innovation.
Personnel and Shift Planning with Special Requirements
The material flow in modern logistics centers is well planned and structured. However, this is not always the case for workforce management: although personnel and shift planning is a key factor for efficient operations, many companies still rely on Excel documents for this purpose. Flexible planning, performance or productivity analyses at the push of a button, or a reliable overview of all employees are hardly possible, and the handling proves to be time-consuming and error-prone.
Software solutions, such as those used in payroll processing, are only partially suitable for workforce management. Their core problem: they lack sufficient flexibility to respond to the rapidly changing conditions in a fulfillment center. Delays lead to a backlog in deliveries – and thus also to problems in workforce management. The increasingly unpredictable ordering behavior and volatile supply chains further increase complexity.
Efficient Support
“Whether a medium-sized company or a global player, many logistics managers still conduct short- and medium-term personnel or shift planning with systems that were not designed for this purpose,” describes PLANCISE founder Thomas Mahringer.
“If a supplier is late, a technical error occurs, or many orders arrive unexpectedly at the same time, one quickly reaches their limits – especially in an environment characterized by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. Many managers are therefore desperately searching for an intralogistics-specific solution tailored to their needs.”
User-Friendliness, Performance, and Flexibility
In light of these challenges, PLANCISE has developed intelligent software that impresses with performance, flexibility, and usability. It enables analyses at the push of a button, provides recommendations, and visualizes data in a dashboard. Currently, several customers from different industries are already using the workforce management tool as part of a pilot program.
“We have developed it as cloud-native and can provide PLANCISE to new customers with just a few clicks,” emphasizes Thomas Mahringer. “Both the application lifecycle, including 400 automated regression tests, and the application and usage monitoring are automated.”
