ID Logistics and IKEA Deepen Collaboration in Dortmund
Feb 28, 2023 at 11:17 AMGüttler Logistik GmbH has joined the cargo cooperation Cargo Trans Logistik AG (CTL). Since February 1, 2023, the Upper Franconian freight forwarder has been part of the international network that realizes the Europe-wide distribution and procurement of general cargo. With over 2.5 million shipments per year, CTL is one of the leading general cargo networks in Europe. With this membership, Güttler Logistik is pursuing its growth strategy in the European general cargo sector.
(Hof/Homburg Efze) “By joining CTL, we can guarantee our customers even faster and safer delivery of their shipments,” says Johannes Reuther, Managing Director of Güttler Logistik GmbH. More than 170 system partners form the comprehensive general cargo network of CTL AG, enabling short haul distances averaging 36 kilometers. With scheduled direct and hub traffic, the cooperating freight forwarders ensure timely deliveries of general cargo, hazardous goods, and long goods shipments throughout Germany and in 37 European countries, as well as express deliveries within Germany the next day.
The system partners are connected to the central hub in Homberg (Efze), Hesse, with a total of up to 400 daily routes. There, more than 7,000 packages are redistributed onto one of the available trucks to their destinations. “Through this consolidation, we, the cooperation partners, can optimally utilize our transport capacities,” explains Reuther.
To prevent unnecessary routes and costs, CTL operates five additional transshipment points within its hub-and-spoke system: RUP North in Lauenau near Hanover, RUP West in Düsseldorf, RUP Southwest in Grolsheim near Mainz, RUP South in Aurach near Nuremberg, and RUP East in Leipzig. With their regional coverage, they complement the function of the central hub. “The cooperation gives us more flexibility in the currently volatile markets and the ability to better absorb strong volume fluctuations,” says Reuther.
Strong Partner Gained
The CTL AG is also pleased about the new addition from Hof (Saale). The Chairman of the Board of CTL, Francesco De Lauso, sees Güttler Logistik GmbH as a significant gain for the network: “The company Güttler is a well-known name in the general cargo sector. With them, we have gained another strong partner and look forward to a long-term, cooperative collaboration.”
