Rhenus Expands Portfolio in Northern Europe with MTS Malmö

The globally operating logistics service provider Rhenus is further expanding its network in Scandinavia with the acquisition of the Swedish road transport expert MTS Malmö Transport & Spedition AB. This deepens Rhenus’s service portfolio in the transport of general cargo and temperature-controlled goods, as well as in customs clearance – gaining new connections to Central and Eastern Europe and Turkey.

The MTS Malmö Transport & Spedition AB has over 30 years of logistics experience and is based in a cross-dock facility in the southern Swedish logistics hub of Malmö. MTS offers its customers all types of transport such as FTL, LTL, and groupage shipments, as well as ADR transports and those with temperature-controlled vehicles – for pharmaceuticals, fresh goods, and other temperature-sensitive products. Additionally, the logistics provider is AEO-certified (Authorized Economic Operator) by the Swedish Customs Authority, ensuring smooth customs clearance for customers. The terminal in Malmö also holds the status of a customs warehouse. The company brings existing and well-established routes to Central and Eastern European markets as well as to Turkey.

The Rhenus Group has rapidly expanded throughout the Scandinavian region in the past year. Rhenus opened locations in Norway and Denmark in 2022 and acquired one of the leading Danish third-party logistics specialists, DKI, with 310,000 square meters of warehouse space in the same year. Rhenus sees enormous growth potential in the Nordic region and plans further investments there in the future.
