Intersport Automates with TGW Logistics
Feb 9, 2023 at 5:05 PMTX Logistik AG is further expanding its intermodal connections between Germany and Italy. As of February 22, the railway logistics company, part of the Mercitalia Group, will increase the number of weekly round trips on the route between Rostock and Verona from four to six. The reason for the higher frequency is the increased demand for trailer transport by rail.
(Troisdorf) In the first weeks of the year, TX Logistik has already increased the train density to Italy on additional routes. For instance, the connection between Leipzig and Sommacampagna-Sona, located about ten kilometers west of Verona, has been increased by two additional round trips from eight to ten per week. Additional intermodal trains are also running from Lübeck to Northern Italy. Between the Baltic Rail Gate in the Hanseatic city and the Quadrante Europa terminal in Verona, TX has added a new eighth round trip to its service.
For the second Lübeck connection to the metropolitan region of Milan, the number of round trips has been increased by two to four. However, instead of Melzo, the terminal in Segrate is now being served. The transshipment facility is located much closer to the metropolitan area of Milan and the industrial zones of Bergamo and Brescia. Additionally, numerous Mercitalia connections to other destinations in the Italian railway network, such as Rome, Naples, and Sicily, can also be utilized from there.
