Rhenus Home Delivery participates in Iberia with Grupo Totalmédia

Rhenus Home Delivery, a specialist in end customer delivery, acquired 49.9 percent of the shares in the logistics group Grupo Totalmédia in December 2022. The investment includes the last-mile transport service sectors. The Iberian logistics and distribution company specializes in home delivery solutions for large-volume shipments and assembly services. With this investment, Rhenus Home Delivery is entering the Iberian market through Spain and Portugal.

(Holzwickede/Lisbon) Grupo Totalmédia, headquartered in Lisbon and with 48 additional locations, consists of six divisions that offer logistics and distribution solutions in the Iberian region. Rhenus is involved with TNB, TTM Entregas ao Domicilio, Home Logistics, and Sama Logistica. These units specialize in the delivery of heavy-bulky goods, transport services, and services related to assembly, packaging, and storage.

“With Grupo Totalmédia, we are opening up two additional markets in Spain and Portugal, thereby becoming the European market leader in two-man handling for heavy-bulky goods on the last mile,” explains Ronny Sassen, Managing Director at Rhenus Home Delivery. Through this acquisition, Rhenus Home Delivery strengthens its position on the Iberian Peninsula and thus expands its European coverage for its customers.

Gradual acquisition of shares

The investment in the company founded in 1998 takes place gradually: Initially, Rhenus acquires 49.9 percent of the Iberian corporate group. The purchase of additional shares will follow in the coming years. The 650 employees of the corporate group will become part of the Rhenus Group with the acquisition. “Through the extensive network of Rhenus Home Delivery and the Rhenus Group as a whole, we can now offer our customers an expanded service portfolio with European solutions.
