Feb 7, 2023 at 2:44 PMThe company Haeger & Schmidt Logistics (HSL) from Duisburg is strengthening the fleet for the container shipping alliance Container Allianz Niederrhein (CAN), which is operated in collaboration with partners European Gateway Services and Contargo Waterway Logistics.
(Duisburg) To this end, the logistics service provider has signed a long-term contract with the Dutch shipping company Delfia Inland Shipping. “The use of modern vessel capacities is very important to us in terms of sustainability and environmental awareness,” says Heiko Brückner, CEO of HSL. Since early February, the container inland vessels have been operating on the Rhine between the West ports and various inland ports. Specifically, these are: MS Alfa Grande with a capacity of 398 TEU, MS Alfa Bianco, and MS Alfa Menta, each with 336 TEU.
“Given the rapidly changing inland shipping landscape and the increasingly limited vessel space, we are adapting our strategy to the new circumstances. Our goal is to invest in securing our capacities through long-term partnerships, thereby guaranteeing sustainable transport security for our customers,” says Stefan Hütten, Chief Development Officer (CDO) at HSL. The two container inland vessels MS Alfa Grande and MS Alfa Bianco will operate on the Lower Rhine between Neuss, Duisburg, Emmerich, Antwerp, and Rotterdam. MS Alfa Menta will take over the route between Andernach and Antwerp as well as other Middle Rhine and Lower Rhine stations.
Sjoerd Knipping, founder and managing director of Delfia Inland Shipping, looks forward to the collaboration: “We are proud to have signed such a long-term contract for the chartering of three vessels. This sets the course for a long-term partnership.” Both Knipping and Hütten agree that they want to intensify and expand their collaboration.
