Jan 20, 2023 at 3:51 PMThomas Strobl, Minister of the Interior of Baden-Württemberg, awarded Kardex Mlog on January 12 during a ceremony in Untergruppenbach as a volunteer-friendly employer in civil protection. Hans-Jürgen Heitzer, Head of Division Kardex Mlog, accepted the certificate.
(Neuenstadt am Kocher/Untergruppenbach) “Social engagement is an important part of our corporate culture, and we are proud of our employees whom we gladly support in their volunteer efforts. This is a matter of course for us. We are even more pleased about the award,” emphasized Hans-Jürgen Heitzer, Head of Division Kardex Mlog.
The award recognizes that Kardex Mlog “has always promoted the voluntary commitment of employees in fire brigades and aid organizations as well as the Federal Agency for Technical Relief,” according to the justification from the Ministry of the Interior. Employees are not only immediately released for ad-hoc operations within the framework of non-police municipal disaster control but also for cross-regional operations such as flood disasters like in the Ahr Valley, deployment in testing centers as part of pandemic control, or for international missions in emergency relief after disasters or accidents. This also applies to participation in courses, seminars, training events, and exercises.
Released for a UN Mission
These missions can sometimes last several weeks. Recently, Guido Schanz was released for a UN mission in the context of the Ukraine crisis for three weeks, which during the COVID-19 pandemic meant an additional burden for business operations and colleagues who had to compensate for his absence.
“Volunteering is the backbone of society and one of the cornerstones of civil protection,” emphasized Interior Minister Thomas Strobl in his speech. “None of this would be possible without employers who fully support their dedicated employees! Because volunteering not only involves the outstanding commitment of people in the country who work for the community. It also requires employers who contribute and take responsibility.”
Annual Award by the State of Baden-Württemberg
The award “Volunteer-Friendly Employer in Civil Protection” is presented annually by the State of Baden-Württemberg. Companies that support their employees in their volunteer work in civil protection are honored.
