Dec 21, 2022 at 1:49 PMThe Cologne North Terminal (TKN) of the Ports and Goods Transport Cologne AG (HGK) will have a new operator starting January 1, 2023, with the Hupac Group. This is the result of the tender initiated by HGK in June 2022, where Hupac SA was awarded the contract in November 2022.
(Köln/Chiasso) “We are very pleased that a renowned company like the Hupac Group has won the tender for the operation of the container terminal. For HGK, the Cologne North Terminal plays a strategically important role, especially in relation to our innovative industrial and logistics area FU-SION COLOGNE, which is being developed in direct proximity,” explains Uwe Wedig, CEO of the HGK Group.
The Hupac Group operates numerous terminals in Europe either independently or in partnership and brings extensive experience in this field. “Terminals are a strategic resource for modal shift and are particularly significant in metropolitan areas like the Rhine/Ruhr region,” says Hupac CEO Michail Stahlhut. “We invest in resources and intelligent systems to maximize performance at the interface between road and rail.”
Convenient Location in Cologne-Niehl
The bimodal Cologne North Terminal is conveniently located near the Cologne Niehl motorway junction (A 1 / A 57) and is directly connected to the Rhine Port Cologne-Niehl by rail. It has an area of 152,000 square meters with five handling tracks and three portal cranes.
