Dec 8, 2022 at 9:26 AMThe pfenning logistics group, a family-run contract logistics service provider, has once again achieved recertifications for its existing properties according to GDP, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 as well as IFS and SQAS. For the Heddesheim location, the company has achieved certification for the storage of organic food for the first time. Additionally, the multicube osthessen in Mecklar is set to be operated in a climate-neutral manner in the future.
(Heddesheim) Every year, an audit of the existing certificates at the pfenning logistics locations is conducted. As part of the annual GDP monitoring audit, it is checked whether the good distribution practices in handling human medicines, such as compliance with the necessary temperature ranges, are still being maintained. This includes not only technical safety and hygiene requirements but also the training of employees.
To implement its sustainability strategy and comprehensive measures for climate protection, pfenning logistics is also aiming for climate neutrality in its current property development of the multicube osthessen in Mecklar. A key role in this is played by the temperature control of the building. Thanks to modern air-to-air water heat pumps, a constant temperature can be maintained, achieving independence from fossil fuels such as gas. A photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof, producing climate-friendly electricity. With these measures, pfenning logistics aims to achieve the platinum certificate from the DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council).
Martin Königstein, Managing Director of pfenning logistics, emphasizes the special importance of the targeted climate neutrality: “An important part of our strategy and a contribution to meeting the EU and national goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions is that our logistics properties have a very low energy demand, which is to be covered as much as possible by renewable energies.”
In addition, pfenning logistics is pursuing further certifications in the development of the multicube osthessen in Mecklar, which ensure the quality requirements of the respective products and processes. “The requirements of our customers are becoming more complex, consumer behavior is changing, and new standards and regulations are coming into force. Through the regular auditing of our services, we ensure both externally and internally that the highest quality standards are maintained,” comments Martin Königstein.
The multicube osthessen is scheduled to be completed and put into operation in May 2023.
