Dec 5, 2022 at 7:25 PMAs of December 1, 2022, Swiss Post has acquired the company H. Bucher Internationale Transporte AG from Alpnach (OW). With this acquisition, Swiss Post can strengthen its network in Central Switzerland and expand its transport and storage services there.
(Bern/Alpnach) As of December 1, 2022, Swiss Post has fully acquired the logistics company H. Bucher Internationale Transporte from Alpnach (OW). H. Bucher Internationale Transporte AG is a regionally established transport company with 47 employees. The logistics company operates a fleet of 34 trucks and specializes in domestic and European transport. Through targeted investments or acquisitions, Swiss Post secures resources such as storage options, vehicles, or skilled workers. For its corporate clients – from tool manufacturers to online shops – Swiss Post handles much more than just the delivery of goods. It takes care of logistics from A to Z: the delivery of spare parts, returns, installation services, interim storage, and customs clearance. With the acquisition of H. Bucher, Swiss Post can also offer more services for companies from a single source. Johannes Cramer, Head of Logistics Services at Swiss Post and member of the Executive Board, is pleased with the addition: “With H. Bucher, we strengthen our presence in Central Switzerland. We can further refine our already dense logistics system for corporate clients.”
Increasing Cross-Border Goods Traffic
“In recent years, people have increasingly ordered online. Even though consumer sentiment is currently low, cross-border goods traffic will continue to grow in the long term,” says Johannes Cramer. Therefore, Swiss Post is investing in this growing goods logistics market. Johannes Cramer adds: “The acquisition of H. Bucher also allows us to expand our connections along the axis between the major economic areas of Germany and Italy. This way, we can continue to be a valuable partner for many companies and ensure that their products reach their destination on time – from winter coats to refrigerators.”
Employment Conditions for Employees Remain Unchanged
The corporate identity of the transport company H. Bucher will remain intact. There will also be no changes for the employees of the company. They will continue to be employed by their current employer. H. Bucher had been looking for a buyer due to succession planning. The parties involved have agreed to keep the details of the acquisition confidential.
