Market Analysis of ELVIS AG with Pessimistic Forecast
Nov 20, 2022 at 6:25 PMTen years after entering the market in Georgia, Gebrüder Weiss draws a positive balance: The location in Tbilisi has established itself not only as a central hub for goods transport between Europe and Central Asia but is also becoming increasingly important as a logistics hub. The industrial and supply sectors in the Caucasus region are growing, leading to an increase in the import and export of goods. The gross domestic product per capita rose by about 17 percent from 2020 to 2021 after the pandemic year.
(Tbilisi / Lauterach) In land transport, Gebrüder Weiss has moved nearly 75,000 shipments with a total weight of 311,000 tons in Georgia over the past five years, with a rising trend. This development is favored by the increasing importance of the Middle Corridor as an alternative route to the northern transport connections via Russia. Gebrüder Weiss also announced in July that it would expand its transport connections from Europe via Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan to China. In response to the expected growing volumes of goods, the Tbilisi location is being expanded for the second time since 2019, receiving larger transshipment and office spaces.
“Gebrüder Weiss Georgia has proven to be a reliable logistics service provider in the market over the past ten years. With the expansion of the location, we want to ensure consistently high quality of our services and continue to provide our customers with sufficient logistics capacities,” explains Alexander Kharlamov, Country Manager of Gebrüder Weiss Georgia.
Ten Years of Gebrüder Weiss Georgia
Following its market entry in 2012, Gebrüder Weiss experienced dynamic growth in the Caucasian state. Two years after the first office opened in the capital Tbilisi, the logistics hub was launched. In 2019, transshipment areas, truck parking spaces, and the office building were expanded. A year later, a rail connection followed. Today, more than 100 employees organize direct connections between Europe and Asia as well as transport between Central Asian countries for customers from the textile, household goods, high-tech, and automotive industries. Services include truck and rail transport, air and sea freight, customs clearance, warehousing logistics, and e-fulfillment.
