New Profession “Transport and Distribution Logistics” at Austrian Post
Nov 16, 2022 at 5:33 PMInnofreight, developer and lessor of particularly lightweight container flatcars – InnoWaggons, as well as the associated containers and load carriers, is equipping the cars with digital technology from Nexxiot. With this, the company, founded 20 years ago, aims to make rail freight transport more reliable and safer.
(Zurich / Bruck an der Mur, November 16, 2022) – The TradeTech pioneer Nexxiot will fully equip the fleet of cars developed by Innofreight with digital technology in the future. While 1,000 container flatcars have already been equipped with the IoT sensor device Globehopper, the remaining 1,700 InnoWaggons of the Austrian railway logistics provider will follow. With the unloading systems developed by Innofreight, two million containers are moved annually. A total of 2,700 cars and 23,000 containers are in operation. The company, operating in 20 countries, expects more transparency, transport safety, and efficiency in rail freight transport from the digital technology provided by Nexxiot. Digital solutions help all stakeholders in global supply chains to enable easier, safer, and more environmentally friendly transport and increase the performance of the network.
No Compromises on Safety
“In developing wagons, containers, and unloading systems, we work closely with our customers and users from all parts of the rail transport chain. By implementing new digital strategies and using state-of-the-art hardware and software, we are getting much closer to our goal of creating more safety. Because when it comes to safety, we make no compromises,” explains Isabella Legat, CEO of Innofreight IT Solutions. “The Innofreight corporate culture is characterized primarily by the continuous improvement of processes. Since last year, Nexxiot has been an ideal partner in this regard.”
230 Complete Trains Daily in Europe
Innofreight operates 230 complete trains daily on the European continent. The growth strategy includes shifting even more freight transport from road to rail to reduce CO2 emissions and the burden on road networks. Nexxiot and Innofreight are making a significant contribution to making logistics along the entire value chain more sustainable, both ecologically and socially.
Stefan Kalmund, CEO of Nexxiot, emphasizes: “Innovation strength is one of the factors that connects us with Innofreight. That’s why we support and accompany Innofreight in implementing safe and environmentally friendly rail transport with innovative digital technology.”
Equipment Directly at the Production Plant
The new wagons included in the equipment agreement will be built at TŽV Gredelj in Croatia, a subsidiary of Tatravagónka – based on over 125 years of experience in the development, manufacturing, and modernization of wagons of all kinds. Similar to the already operational InnoWaggons, Nexxiot will equip the new railcars with the Globehopper hardware directly at the plant. With the help of Nexxiot’s IoT technology, fleet operators receive more information about the status of the freight cars and their mileage. Customers can respond more quickly to irregularities, proactively plan and optimize operational processes. The data obtained through the use of Nexxiot solutions enable a more accurate assessment of disputes in case of transport damages and contribute to making supply chains more efficient and sustainable in the future.
Significantly Enhancing Products
Isabella Legat from Innofreight: “With the intelligent evaluation of the status data collected by Nexxiot, we can significantly enhance our products. Transparency, productivity, and efficiency will measurably increase in fleet operations.” Stefan Kalmund adds: “With Nexxiot devices, objects and process steps are intelligently interconnected. This is of great importance for the management of global supply chains: To avoid risks, manufacturers must work together with suppliers around the world to optimize processes and ensure access to sustainability information at all times.”
