Nov 2, 2022 at 5:53 PMIn the area of product and sales at Lufthansa Cargo, there will be personnel and structural changes at the management level starting November 1, 2022. These adjustments serve strategic purposes: seven sales regions will be consolidated into five. This simplification of structure allows for a more targeted customer orientation and enables faster market actions, thereby supporting the growth phase of Lufthansa Cargo.
(Frankfurt/Main) The changes include both new personnel appointments and adjusted responsibilities:
The sales regions of North and South America will now form a large America region in sales management. Stephanie Abeler, formerly Head of “Sales & Handling Midwest USA”, will take on the responsibility for the newly created region. The previous incumbents Bernhard Kindelbacher and Carsten Hernig will take on new tasks. Stephanie Abeler will continue to be based in Chicago.
The previously separate regions of Eastern & Northern Europe and Western Europe will now be managed as one European region. New to Lufthansa Cargo, Oliver von Götz will now be responsible as Head of “Region Europe LCAG” from Frankfurt, replacing the previous incumbents Annette Kreuziger and Thomas Egnolf. Prior to this, Oliver von Götz was working within the Lufthansa Group as Head of “Corporate Airline Strategy and Business Development Lufthansa Airlines”.
Expansion of the Sales Region Middle East & Africa
The existing sales region Middle East & Africa will be expanded to include the markets in South Asia and the CIS region. This sales region will now be led by Dr. André Schulz as Head of “Region Middle East, Africa & South Asia & CIS”. He is based in Frankfurt. With this change, Dr. Schulz, who previously served as General Manager Southern and East Africa in Johannesburg at Deutsche Lufthansa AG, succeeds Frank Beilner, who will take on new tasks.
Achim Martinka, who has been leading the sales for Germany at Lufthansa Cargo as Vice President Germany since summer 2019, will expand his responsibilities to include the markets of Austria and Switzerland, thus leading the newly consolidated DACH sales region.
Region Asia Pacific Remains Unchanged
The structure of the Asia Pacific region, managed by J. Florian Pfaff from Singapore, will remain unchanged except for the future management of the South Asia market region by Dr. André Schulz.
The area of Digital Sales, which was previously positioned as a central function, will now be expanded and defined as a customer-oriented function. Marcel Kling will now lead the Digital Sales area.
All managers of the sales regions and Digital Sales report to Ashwin Bhat, Chief Commercial Officer at Lufthansa Cargo.
Necessary Adjustments to Pool Resources
“The mergers of regions as well as the new appointments are necessary adjustments for us to pool our resources, leverage synergies, and respond even better to market trends. We are simplifying our internal process structures, and externally we remain a strong partner for our customers in the markets. I am pleased that we have been able to attract and appoint new leaders from the Lufthansa Group. I am confident that with their experience and diverse knowledge, we will continue to strengthen Lufthansa Cargo’s leading position in the air freight market in the coming years. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Anette Kreuziger, Bernhard Kindelbacher, Frank Beilner, Thomas Egenolf, and Carsten Hernig for their leadership and contribution to the success of Lufthansa Cargo in recent years,” emphasizes Ashwin Bhat, Chief Commercial Officer of Lufthansa Cargo.
