Emons Kenzingen Wins Aliseo as a New Logistics Customer
Sep 30, 2022 at 7:43 PMThe Greven-based family company Fiege is building a particularly sustainable multi-user center for the healthcare sector in Barleben, north of Magdeburg, with 42,000 square meters of logistics space. Completion is planned for the end of 2022, and the most important and largest customer for the site has already been found.
(Barleben/Greven) On Tuesday, the Fiege Group laid the foundation stone for its new location in Barleben. Due to COVID-19, the event could only take place during the advanced construction phase. By the end of the year, a state-of-the-art logistics center with around 42,000 square meters of logistics space will be built in the heart of Saxony-Anhalt. The four-part, temperature-controlled hall is specifically designed for handling sensitive pharmaceutical products such as narcotics and meets maximum safety requirements. The anchor customer in Barleben will be the pharmaceutical company Salutas, which belongs to Sandoz Germany.
Grateful for the Support
Frank Nase, the mayor of the municipality of Barleben, congratulated on the laying of the foundation stone: “We are pleased to welcome Fiege, a traditional yet modern family business, to Barleben. The establishment of one of Europe’s leading logistics service providers strengthens the municipality of Barleben as a business location and creates valuable jobs in the region.”
Sustainable and Conveniently Located
Jens Fiege, CEO of the Fiege Group, which he leads in the fifth generation together with his cousin Felix Fiege, expressed his gratitude for the good and constructive collaboration and emphasized the great importance of the new location: “To realize such a flagship project, many gears must mesh together. We are very grateful for the excellent support from the municipality of Barleben and our project partners. The new Fiege location in Barleben will be one of the most sustainable pharmaceutical logistics centers in Germany. Its special construction, including two photovoltaic systems and a gas-independent VRV heating system, sets new standards in the Fiege world and beyond.”
The logistics center is conveniently located near the federal highways 2 and 14. The project is being implemented by Fiege Real Estate. As the first location of the Fiege Group, the multi-user center meets both the Well Building Standard of the International Well Building Institute and the Platinum Standard of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). “Sustainability is one of Fiege’s central strategic priorities. By building energy-efficient logistics properties, we make a significant contribution to passing our family business on to the next generation in a climate-neutral manner,” said Jens Fiege.
