Sep 27, 2022 at 4:40 PMThe Swiss Logistics Innovation Days 2022-2024 are themed: Taking Responsibility. This is not only about using technology to achieve higher efficiency or performance in the logistical fields of transport, storage, handling, logistics management, or supply chain management. Responsible action should consider the consumption of essential resources in the design of future-proof logistics concepts: the consumption of energy, water, and land.
(Altdorf, CH) This can only be achieved if companies and their employees step out of their thought patterns, their objectives, and their predefined design spaces and engage in creative exchange with customers, suppliers, investors, technology and service providers, researchers, and associations, as well as political and societal representatives.
The effective and responsible management of supplier, production, and logistics networks presents a particular challenge, as highlighted by the current crises and obvious bottlenecks faced by most companies, politics, and society. In the supply crisis, highly complex value creation systems emerge, characterized by the sheer number of participants, their degree of networking, the strength of interactions, as well as their dynamics and uncertainty. Problems in complex systems cannot be solved through linear thinking. However, as humans, we are not capable of thinking in complex systems and will only randomly make the right decisions.
What will be necessary to act responsibly in a complex system:
- To expand the understanding of value creation. Value creation should be understood as a dynamic, interconnected, mostly global system.
- In value creation systems, structures, actors, and their interactions are known.
- The evaluation criteria of a value creation system are expanded. The consumption of raw materials, energy, water, and land is taken into account.
The Swiss Logistics Innovation Day 2022 sets the starting point with a focus on energy for a series of events that deal with the theme of taking responsibility. Business, society, politics, and research each engage in active exchange to contribute their ideas, beliefs, and experiences. We are convinced that the Logistics Innovation Day is regularly necessary to initiate interdisciplinary exchange, broaden the search for solutions, and stimulate the necessary creativity. This should enable the design of future-proof logistics and value creation systems.
For this event series, we are already receiving support from Innossuisse, the Dätwyler Foundation, the Canton of Uri, Dassault Systems, and Adnovum. Please contact us if you wish to position yourself as a sponsor or participate as an impulse giver or participant.
