Sep 26, 2022 at 7:30 PMDHL Supply Chain today announces the acquisition of a majority stake in the Dutch e-commerce specialist Monta. Both companies aim to establish a strong partnership to support small and medium-sized online shops in the areas of e-fulfillment and online sales. By accelerating the international rollout of Monta’s logistics services, DHL can better address the specific needs of SMEs and smaller webshops, while Monta can better serve its rapidly growing customer base internationally.
(Bonn) Monta was founded in 1999 and has quickly become one of the leading providers of e-commerce and e-fulfillment services in the Netherlands. With 1,000 employees and 14 fulfillment locations, the company processes twelve million e-commerce orders and generated annual revenues of over 100 million euros in 2021. Monta currently serves around 1,500 small and medium-sized online shops and e-sellers with a wide range of software-supported fulfillment services.
“With a team of 1,000 logistics experts, a strong presence in the e-commerce market, proven processes, and an excellent track record of increasing customer numbers through the strategic use of cutting-edge technologies such as AI, data science, and collaborative robots, Monta is the perfect partner for us to expand our service internationally. We will maintain and further develop Monta’s capabilities, expertise, and culture to offer customer-oriented solutions in the rapidly growing e-commerce segment,” says Oscar de Bok, CEO of DHL Supply Chain.
DHL’s comprehensive global and European presence, along with its expertise in standardizing and rapidly scaling logistics processes, complements Monta’s lean and agile logistics competence in e-fulfillment for small and medium-sized enterprises. The partnership brings together the best of both worlds. Customers of DHL and Monta’s existing customers will benefit from Monta’s entrepreneurial spirit and DHL Supply Chain’s strong international expertise, infrastructure, and network.
“Our vision is to leverage our successful business model in the Netherlands across borders and help our customers expand their international business. Monta has recently expanded internationally, leading several Monta customers to also expand internationally. This partnership further accelerates this development. This transaction also allows our employees to broaden their long-term career prospects. We have been working with DHL for many years and have found that we fit culturally very well together. I look forward to a true partnership between the teams at Monta and DHL Supply Chain,” says Edwin van der Ham, owner and CEO of Monta.
“These plans underscore our commitment to expanding our e-commerce business across Europe and continuing to provide our customers with the best fulfillment solutions. Through a strong partnership with Monta, we will strengthen our capabilities and be able to better meet the needs of small and medium-sized e-commerce customers. I am very much looking forward to our collaboration in the coming years,” says Hendrik Venter, CEO of DHL Supply Chain EMEA.
