Sep 26, 2022 at 7:40 PMThe DEKRA testing site in Arnhem, Netherlands, has been expanded with a new Open Area Test Site (OATS) for testing electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). The testing facility was officially opened recently. The new testing facility can be used for the testing of large vehicles, such as electric buses and e-trucks.
(Arnhem, NL) The testing field offers further opportunities for DEKRA to support manufacturers in the development, testing, and certification of their new products. The open-area testing field is an outdoor site with a metallic surface that neither reflects nor absorbs. In the future, reference measurements of radiated electric and magnetic fields will be conducted there in accordance with international and national EMC standards.
The new testing ground, managed by DEKRA Certification B.V., Arnhem/Netherlands, enables the testing of large vehicles that cannot normally be tested in enclosed EMC test chambers due to their size or weight. In addition to buses and trucks, this will also include construction machinery and agricultural machines, which are increasingly being powered electrically.
Testing of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and radio technologies (RF) is a prerequisite for interference-free electromobility and safe automated driving. DEKRA has a comprehensive global network of EMC and RF laboratories with testing facilities in Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Mainland China, Taiwan, South Korea, and the USA.
The new testing facility in Arnhem is part of DEKRA’s strategy to invest more in the future of electromobility. For example, a new test bench for electric motors and axles is being put into operation at the DEKRA Technology Center at Lausitzring in Klettwitz, Germany. The goal there is also homologation and type testing as well as quality assurance on behalf of manufacturers and authorities.
