Unlocking Full Potential with Liebherr Transform
Aug 25, 2022 at 3:50 PMMore than 1,000 users voted for the MAN eTGM as the winner in the “Last mile” category at the first “Green Track Award” on autobild.de. The readers were convinced that the MAN electric truck is not only emission-free but also operates quietly, allowing city delivery traffic to be shifted to congestion-free evening and night hours. This accelerates logistics by up to 30 percent, reduces CO2 emissions, and eases the burden on local residents.
(Munich) “We are pleased to receive the award for our MAN eTGM. This once again confirms our strategy to focus on electromobility as a drive across all model ranges. At the same time, the award motivates us for the upcoming market launch of our heavy eTruck in 2024,” says Alexander Vlaskamp, CEO of MAN Truck & Bus.
AUTO BILD launched the “Green Track Award” in 2022 for the first time: The readers of the automotive magazine were invited to vote in six categories for sustainable mobility concepts, projects, and services. Additionally, a panel of experts from the editorial team awarded a prize.
Quiet through the night
More than 1,000 AUTO BILD readers cast their votes for the most sustainable ideas at the first “Green Track Award”. In the “Last mile” category, they chose the MAN eTGM as the winner: Thanks to the emission-free electric truck from MAN Truck & Bus, city delivery traffic can be rethought and reimagined: It accelerates logistics by up to 30 percent. Instead of further burdening the congested infrastructure during the day on the famous “last mile”, the quiet MAN eTGM can utilize the roads in the evening and night hours. This convinced the readers of AUTO BILD!
Electric version of the MAN TGM since 2018
In 2019, the magazine Transport awarded the MAN eTGM with the “European Transport Prize for Sustainability 2020” in the “Electrified Truck” category. This is because, as early as 2018, the commercial vehicle manufacturer started a three-year practical pilot project with an electric version of the MAN TGM at nine Austrian customers. Since the end of 2019, a first small series of the fully electric 26-ton distribution truck has been delivered to European transport companies, which have since proven themselves in the tough transport everyday life from Norway to Spain. MAN is not only using this experience for the further development of series technology but also for future services related to electromobility and the associated consulting services for customers.
Integrating practical tests into series production
The profound practical expertise with the eTGM is directly integrated by MAN into the development of the electric truck series portfolio starting in 2024. A technical feature of the upcoming electric lion is its preparation for future megawatt charging: high charging capacities with short charging times make the electric truck suitable for heavy long-distance transport with daily ranges between 600 and 800 kilometers, and at a later date even up to 1,000 kilometers. Together with low operating costs and the best energy balance, battery-electric vehicles offer the most suitable technology for future CO2-free commercial vehicle fleets.
