A few selected lectures are as follows:
Bold Thoughts on the Supply Chain
It kicks off on the first day of the fair at 10 a.m. in the Breakfast Club in the PACKBOX with a keynote by Gunhard Keil from the renowned Future Institute. The Viennese entrepreneur and long-time consultant for the packaging industry reveals “Bold Thoughts on the Future of the Supply Chain” in his lecture “Structure follows strategy or Customer follows packaging?” He sees urban centers like New York, Beijing, or Frankfurt as the raw material centers of the future. And also in terms of logistics and freight transport, many things will change in the future, similar to transport packaging.
New Work: A Beautiful New Working World
The second day of the fair (September 28, 2022) is entirely dedicated to the theme of “New Work” in the TECHBOX. In the increasingly tough competition for the best talents, the so-called “war for talents,” companies must offer attractive working models. Seven lecture slots from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. will address the topic from various perspectives.
For example, futurist Hartwin Maas from the Institute for Generational Research compares the baby boomers with the digital youth and explains which skills and technological competencies are in demand in the new working world (12–1 p.m.). Richard Clemens, Managing Director of the VDMA Food Machinery and Packaging Machinery Association, addresses the question: “Between Digitalization and Sustainability: Tension or Challenge for Young Talents?” (4–5 p.m.). The roundtable by BGH Consulting revolves around the pros and cons of new versus old ways of attracting and retaining skilled workers and the special role of interim management (2–3 p.m.). Successful examples of personnel recruiting will be presented by Packaging Valley Germany e.V. under the title “NEW WORK in the Middle! The Valley of Career Opportunities for Top Talents – How the Companies of Packaging Valley are Already Winning Tomorrow’s Skilled Workers!” (10–11 a.m.).
Turning Point in Packaging
Hard-hitting and unrelenting is the lecture “The Turning Point and Its Challenges for the Globe and Packaging” by Eric Heymann from Deutsche Bank on the last day of the fair, September 29, in the TECHBOX (1–1:30 p.m.). The Director and Senior Economist takes a macroeconomic look into the crystal ball and explores what the new realities around energy, supply bottlenecks, and skilled labor shortages mean for developments in the coming years.
myFACHPACK: Lectures via Live Stream
This year, there is again the digital extension myFACHPACK for matchmaking and knowledge transfer between exhibitors, partners, speakers, and visitors. myFACHPACK extends the on-site fair into the virtual world. Already in the lead-up to the fair from September 16, the new tool offers visitors the opportunity to network with exhibitors, partners, and speakers. During the fair, the program of the lecture forums PACKBOX, TECHBOX, and INNOVATIONBOX will be streamed live on myFACHPACK and will also be available there afterward. myFACHPACK can be used on desktop and especially mobile via an app:
