Solar Panels for Logistics Facilities, Opportunities for Municipalities
Aug 18, 2022 at 4:20 PMThe transport management platform Transporeon today announces the acquisition of the Berlin-based start-up Tracks. Tracks aims to drive the decarbonization of the transport industry and reduce CO2 emissions. Founded in 2018, Tracks offers carbon visibility solutions for monitoring and managing CO2 emissions across all transport modes. To this end, the company utilizes AI-based analysis and forecasting tools, enabling shippers, carriers, and logistics providers to collect emissions data directly at the source and subsequently optimize it.
(Ulm) It is Transporeon’s mission to pave the way for sustainability in the transport industry. Over the past 12 months, the company has increased its investments to enable more climate-neutral freight transport. In early 2022, Transporeon launched its Carbon Visibility solution, which has become the industry standard for accurately measuring and documenting CO2 emissions across the entire supply chain and all transport modes.
In 2021, Transporeon partnered with EcoTransIT, a long-standing expert in calculating greenhouse gas emissions. EcoTransIT focuses on particularly precise bottom-up calculations based on detailed, scientifically grounded industry standards. Tracks’ expertise in using primary data for highly accurate emissions calculations perfectly complements this existing partnership.
Through the acquisition of Tracks and the existing partnership with EcoTransIT, Transporeon’s customers benefit from an expanded offering. This enables them to set realistic CO2 reduction targets both internally and with regard to suppliers and customers. Furthermore, concrete improvements to achieve these goals can be identified. This combination for greater visibility of CO2 emissions is unique in this form. It provides the most accurate insight into emissions available on the market. This offers Transporeon’s customers access to an increasingly detailed calculation – all including concrete recommendations for action. The combination of primary data with standard calculations provides important insights into consumption data, broken down by fuel or energy source. This is crucial for implementing measures to reduce one’s own CO2 footprint.
“We are pleased to welcome the Tracks team to Transporeon. The combination of Tracks’ expertise in primary data and their AI-based analytical capabilities with our existing carbon transparency solution will provide added value to all customers in our network,” says Stephan Sieber, CEO of Transporeon. “Tracks has developed a powerful product that enables automated emissions management.”
“The acquisition of Tracks by Transporeon will have a direct and immediate impact on the entire freight transport ecosystem,” says Jakob Muus, CEO of Tracks. “Transporeon’s ‘Move, Manage and Monitor’ fits perfectly with Tracks’ ‘Measure, Manage and Mitigate’. This merger enables companies around the world to achieve their sustainability goals by providing buyers and sellers of freight transport with the means and tools to become more environmentally friendly and efficient. I look forward to Tracks now being part of the Transporeon family.”
The digitization of the supply chain remains a crucial factor in aligning transport with the world. Sustainable initiatives such as calculating, tracking, and reducing CO2 emissions are key to these efforts. In this context, the acquisition of Tracks is a logical addition to Transporeon’s Carbon Visibility solution, aimed at supporting all stakeholders in Transporeon’s network on the path to ‘Net Zero Logistics’.
