New and Sustainable Reusable Transport Box from Fraunhofer LBF
Jul 28, 2022 at 5:17 PMECOOLTEC Grosskopf GmbH manufactures a new generation of particularly sustainable, efficient, and safe refrigeration units for a wide range of applications. The technology of ECOOLTEC Grosskopf GmbH equips the refrigerated transport industry for current and future challenges. Experienced industry professionals enable technological advantages
(Mülheim an der Ruhr) The goal of ECOOLTEC Grosskopf GmbH is to provide the refrigerated transport industry with solutions for challenges such as environmental regulations and CO2 certifications. To this end, ECOOLTEC has developed a new generation of particularly sustainable, efficient, and safe refrigeration units for a wide range of applications. The start-up has optimal conditions such as secured financing and employees who mostly have decades of experience in the field of transport refrigeration.
Market launch for ECOOLTEC Grosskopf GmbH and a revolutionary generation of transport refrigeration units: The company from Mülheim an der Ruhr, whose founder and patron Peter Großkopf has set new impulses and standards in the transport refrigeration industry with his exceptional expertise over the past 40 years, has developed innovative transport refrigeration units that already meet the current and future challenges of temperature-controlled transport on the road. In doing so, the newly founded company defines a new state of the art in the industry.
Technological highlights of the new refrigeration units include a locally nearly emission-free and CO2-free drive, the use of natural refrigerants with the lowest single-digit greenhouse potential, a construction height of only 250 millimeters for installation in the roof of refrigerated vehicles, maximum operational safety, as well as enormous power and extraordinary efficiency.
No Burdens for People and the Environment
ECOOLTEC’s top goal is to offer customers in temperature-controlled transport forward-looking, environmentally friendly technologies. “We are dedicated to ensuring that all temperature-controlled transports can be carried out using forward-looking technologies without burdens on people and the environment,” explains ECOOLTEC CEO Henning Altebäumer. “Almost the entire cold chain can now be realized without fluorinated greenhouse gases; only transport refrigeration has not yet achieved this. The ECOOLTEC system now closes this gap and enables, for example, the food industry to actually offer ice and frozen pizza with the greenest footprint,” explains Dr. Jürgen Süß, who is responsible for technology at ECOOLTEC as Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
Suitability for Local and Long-Distance Transport
As a result of the tightening of environmental regulations, electric drive technology will become indispensable in all market areas in the future. ECOOLTEC will therefore market its innovative rooftop refrigeration systems with fully hermetic refrigeration circuits worldwide. The units are suitable for a wide range of mobile applications. They can be used for both voluminous and compact box structures, thus for trailers as well as for motor vehicles. In addition, the system is suitable for vehicles in both long-distance and local transport. ECOOLTEC will also equip the market segment of direct delivery by home services.
The components specially developed for the refrigeration units can already be produced particularly economically in larger quantities, as they can also be used by companies that employ refrigerated containers (reefers) as well as air conditioning systems for buses and trains.
Experienced Team
In addition to the management team consisting of Henning Altebäumer and Dr. Jürgen Süß, as well as Peter Großkopf as the company founder and advisor, a team of experienced industry professionals and qualified engineers in transport refrigeration is responsible for the innovative technology. This forms the basis of ECOOLTEC’s technological advantage. The company thus utilizes decades of experience in temperature-controlled transport to bring innovative ideas into practical use.
The renowned transport refrigeration expert Peter Großkopf founded FRIGOBLOCK Grosskopf GmbH in 1978 and built it up until its sale in 2015. Under his leadership, the company quickly developed into one of the largest European manufacturers of high-quality transport refrigeration units, with the name FRIGOBLOCK becoming synonymous with powerful, environmentally friendly, durable, and cost-saving vehicle refrigeration systems.
Foundation at the Request of Many Customers
Shortly after the sale of FRIGOBLOCK, Peter Großkopf decided to establish Umweltstiftung Grosskopf GmbH, from which ECOOLTEC Grosskopf GmbH has since emerged. It has since seamlessly continued the development of future-oriented transport refrigeration units.
The founding of ECOOLTEC also occurred at the request of many customers, so the company can already rely on a large number of interested parties from the very beginning. Through Umweltstiftung Grosskopf GmbH, ECOOLTEC Grosskopf GmbH has access to financial resources of up to 50 million euros.
Presentation at the IAA Transportation in Hanover
ECOOLTEC will present itself to the general public at the IAA Transportation from September 20 to 25, 2022, in Hanover. In Hall H27, Stand A16, all visitors will experience the future of transport refrigeration.
