Increasing Storage Space Needed for Lithium-Ion Batteries
Jun 21, 2022 at 7:00 PMNew locations and a new transport route for L.I.T. Air & Sea GmbH: From now on, the division of the L.I.T. Group is represented twice in Hamburg. The reason for the expansion is the increased demand for sea, air, and additional services. In the past four years, the company’s revenue has more than quadrupled.
(Brake / Hamburg) The connection to the Hanseatic metropolis now allows the Brake-based company group to further expand its services in international air and sea transport and respond even more specifically to market challenges. As part of the expansion and the volatile supply chains, the division is also expanding its portfolio and will now offer rail transport to and from China via the Silk Road.
On a Growth Path
“L.I.T. Air & Sea GmbH has established itself in recent years as a mediator of air and sea freight organization in the market. We are clearly on a growth path. Therefore, we want to manage our service portfolio in air and sea freight even more effectively for international transport with the new locations in Hamburg,” explains Michael Borowski, Operations Manager of L.I.T. Air & Sea GmbH. While the “Sea Freight” department opens its office under the leadership of Thomas Behneke at the Elbbrücken, the air freight division, led by location manager Philipp Penkwitt, is setting up its office at the Hamburg Airport Cargo Center (HACC). With the new branches, the company group is responding to the increasing demand for air and sea transport. Additionally, rail services to and from China via the Silk Road are now also available. “With rail transport, we offer adequate delivery times despite the massively disrupted supply chains, making it a real alternative to sea freight,” says Borowski. Goods are transported within 22 days from China to Europe and vice versa. Due to container congestion at numerous international ports, it takes more than five weeks for goods to arrive at their destination by ship. “Not only is the delivery time a significant advantage, but the costs compared to sea freight have almost equalized by now,” says Borowski.
Wide Range of Services
The division, integrated in 2018 as part of the acquisition of the CLI Group, offers its customers an extensive portfolio. In addition to standard air freight shipments, services also include ad-hoc charter flights, on-board courier services, and hazardous goods deliveries. For this, the company relies on an international network of partner forwarding companies at the respective air and sea ports. “With the connection to shipping, air, and rail traffic in Hamburg, we are even better positioned and can fulfill our high order volume excellently,” says Borowski. Additionally, the company increasingly offers supplementary services such as cargo consolidation, transport insurance, and customs clearance. “With the expansion to Hamburg, we are positioning ourselves in a strategically optimal location and guaranteeing reliable and individualized transport solutions for our customers,” emphasizes Borowski. Meanwhile, 37 employees are working in the Air & Sea branches in Barcelona, Bremen, Herford, and in the Elbe metropolis.
