Jun 8, 2022 at 6:44 PMThe Association of German Engineers (VDI) awards companies that excel in innovation in logistics with this prestigious award. TGW is proud to receive the renowned Innovation Award for Logistics for its self-learning picking robot Rovolution and its Digital Twin.
(Marchtrenk) The award was presented by Gregor Blauermel (Chairman of the Jury), Prof. Johannes Fottner (Deputy Chairman of the Jury), and Jean Haeffs (Managing Director of the VDI Specialist Society for Production and Logistics). “The VDI Innovation Award for Logistics for Rovolution is a great confirmation of our development and innovation strategy, which places a special focus on robotics, software, and digitalization,” emphasizes Christoph Wolkerstorfer, Chief Sales Officer of TGW Logistics Group.
Rovolution: Intelligent and Self-Learning
The basis for Rovolution is formed by insights from the fields of artificial intelligence, cognitive robotics, and image recognition. The picking robot makes independent decisions on how to handle a situation. The intelligent technology learns with each picking process, gathers experience, and is capable of recognizing patterns. “With Rovolution, TGW Automation consistently advances and offers the right solution for the challenges of the market,” says Christoph Wolkerstorfer.
Digital Twin: Optimal Performance, Higher Transparency
TGW has also developed a Digital Twin of Rovolution – a complete, growing digital representation that is connected to the physical system. The Digital Twin makes behavior and overall relationships visible, comprehensible, and predictable. With its help, one can analyze data, learn from it, and visualize it in 3D models.
This not only allows for monitoring the current state of Rovolution but also provides a replay function to look back into the past to identify causes of unexpected events. Even a glimpse into the future becomes possible – for example, in the context of predictive maintenance. “Users benefit from optimal transparency, higher productivity, and a reduction in operating costs with the Digital Twin,” explains Christoph Wolkerstorfer.
