The HPE Quality Seal Ensures Smooth Goods Transport

Whether cars, machines, or electrical systems – many industries in Germany need to ship their industrial and export goods around the world. To ensure that the cargo arrives safely, quality is essential in its packaging. The Federal Association of Wooden Packaging, Pallets, Export Packaging (HPE) shows that these specialists can be recognized by the quality seal ‘HPE-Certified Custom Packaging.’

(Bad Honnef) It is about trust between packaging companies and their clients, says HPE Managing Director Marcus Kirschner. Customers must be able to rely on the fact that their goods are protected from all potential dangers during transport. On the other hand, it should be a matter of course for the packer, as a reliable service provider, to offer the best possible packaging quality. “To ensure that clients can still play it safe with packaging and a service that is quality-tested and sets even higher standards across the industry, there is the label ‘HPE-Certified Custom Packaging.'”

To ensure quality, the certified companies continuously conduct employee training on packaging statics, corrosion protection of goods, proper manufacturing of transport means, and proper stowing in containers with their long-standing industry partner, the Wood Technical School in Bad Wildungen. At the same time, the companies and their packaging are regularly checked by independent experts. And should something not go smoothly despite all this, a solution-oriented packaging liability insurance policy is mandatory for the certified companies.

Quality Symbol Often Required by Clients

Since hardly any project is the same as another, personal agreements and consultations on-site with the client are also standard for certified companies, as are appropriate packaging and any interim storage of goods.

“The label ‘HPE-Certified Custom Packaging’ is today not only a desired quality symbol for many transport orders but also a prerequisite for the client,” emphasizes Kirschner. “Companies with the seal enjoy great recognition worldwide for individual and safe transport packaging.” It has become known that they optimally package the industrial goods entrusted to them and deliver them reliably and intact to any destination in the world, concludes the HPE Managing Director.

About the HPE

The Federal Association of Wooden Packaging, Pallets, Export Packaging (HPE) e.V. celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2019. It is a professional association with more than 430 predominantly owner-managed companies from all areas of the wooden packaging industry, representing about 80% of the industry turnover of around 2.3 billion euros. The members of the HPE are providers of pallets, packaging materials, cable drums, crates, and wooden stretch baskets, as well as service providers in the fields of packaging, container loading, and logistics. The estimated wood demand of the industry, including small businesses with fewer than 20 employees, is around six million cubic meters, accounting for about 25% of the sawn timber produced in Germany.
