Jungheinrich Opens New Development Center in Zagreb
Apr 12, 2022 at 3:02 PMDachser Food Logistics has been represented in Belgium since early April with its own national organization. Based in Tournai, a municipality near the French border, the focus will be on addressing the Belgian food industry. Efficient and reliable export solutions are the main focus. Another location is planned.
(Kempten/Tournai) The new location’s main offering is transport solutions towards Germany and the rest of Central Europe as well as Italy. Daily services can achieve 24-hour transit times to recipients in Germany. The direct connection to the European Food Network also enables efficient Europe-wide delivery with fixed transit times. 23 network members ensure coverage of a total of 34 European countries.
“We see enormous potential in Belgium,” says Alfred Miller, Managing Director of Dachser Food Logistics. “With our short transit times, a wide product portfolio, and a focus on high quality, we can offer the export-oriented Belgian food industry a new, attractive proposition with the location in Tournai.” This particularly targets the confectionery sector, but also manufacturers of meat and sausage products as well as dairy and convenience products.
TDL Group as a cooperation partner
The new location is about 90 kilometers southwest of Brussels, is part of the cross-border region Lille–Kortrijk–Tournai, and enables coverage of the western part of Belgium. The operational cooperation partner is the TDL Group, with which Dachser is already working closely in the distribution sector. The company is one of the leading providers of temperature-controlled logistics in Benelux and has an extensive network with three cross-dock facilities in Belgium. The eastern part of Belgium will continue to be served by the Dachser branch in Alsdorf in the tri-border area of Germany-Belgium-Netherlands.
Strong network backing
Markus Biemüller, Branch Manager of Dachser Belgium Food Logistics, adds: “With the establishment in Belgium, we want to convince the Belgian food industry of our transport and logistics services, locally and directly on-site. Our export-specialized team has a strong network backing, and we will continuously expand our offerings. As the next step, we will establish additional daily line services into the Dachser network. Furthermore, another location in Central Belgium is in planning.”
