Schuon Takes Over Inventory Monitoring for Automotive Manufacturers
Feb 20, 2022 at 8:08 PMOver 10 years ago, SYSTRAPLAN introduced the Volkslager to the professional audience as a cost-effective alternative to conventional storage for the automatic picking of various panel materials. The high-bay storage concept is interesting for companies that need to manage a wide variety of panel materials, where a conventional storage system reaches its limits.
(Herford) SYSTRAPLAN, the specialist for material flow and storage technology from East Westphalia’s Herford, first presented this concept at LIGNA 10 years ago. In the meantime, numerous Volkslager systems have been delivered. The customers are generally small to medium-sized companies from both domestic and international markets.
“With this concept, we have captured the spirit of the times,” says Export Manager Hartmut Brünger. “Focusing on the essentials was and is the motto to establish an affordable high-bay storage system. We were able to draw on years of experience in the field of panel picking. The feedback from our Volkslager customers has been overwhelmingly positive.” The commitment to quality, functionality, and durability has also been implemented in the Volkslager.
The centerpiece of the concept is a newly developed storage and retrieval device designed for the lower price segment. It is immediately clear at first glance that it differs in construction from the well-known conventional storage and retrieval devices.
Direct Access to Different Panels
The main advantage of the Volkslager remains direct access to a wide variety of panels. The time- and energy-consuming restacking to access the required panels, as is common in conventional storage systems with stacks of up to 2 meters high, can be eliminated.
With low stacking heights in the rack, the storage and retrieval device accesses the panel materials directly. Even with a low hall height of 4 meters, the high-bay storage system does not shy away from comparison with a conventional storage system.
One of the most important additional advantages is the damage-free handling of the materials. The sensitive panels are prepared for processing in the shortest time possible. The picking of individual panels can take place directly on the storage and retrieval device.
Designed to Meet Customer Needs
With the numerous options offered for the Volkslager, the system is expandable and can be tailored to the customer’s performance and space requirements. Upon request, the entire stack can also be moved with the storage and retrieval device.
