Jan 29, 2022 at 7:13 PMTX Logistik AB, the Swedish subsidiary of the German TX Logistik AG, is expanding its intermodal transport services within Sweden. Starting January 31, the railway logistics company, part of the Mercitalia Group (Gruppo FS Italiane), will add another connection between Trelleborg and Eskilstuna, about 100 kilometers west of Stockholm, to its schedule.
(Troisdorf/Trelleborg) The new full train will operate as a Company Train for the Austrian specialist for complete loads, LKW WALTER. This new connection marks another milestone for LKW WALTER in expanding combined transport on the European continent.
Four round trips per week are planned. Up to 38 loading units can fit on a train. The transport will primarily consist of trailers. The trains will operate between the port in Trelleborg and the combined terminal in Eskilstuna, one of the most important hinterland terminals in Sweden. The route goes via Frövi, and the travel time is approximately 7 hours. TX Logistik will handle the traction, terminal processing, and customer service. In Trelleborg, LKW WALTER utilizes the ferry connections to and from Rostock and Travemünde. By shifting transport from road to the new route, both companies contribute to further CO2 reduction.
TX Logistik is experiencing a consistently high demand for freight transport by rail. The company sees potential for further growth, especially in traffic along the North-South axis and within Sweden. Today, TX Logistik is already one of the most important providers of combined rail freight transport in the Scandinavian country.
Food transport between Bro and Malmö
For the retail chain Coop, for example, TX Logistik transports food 20 times a week between Bro (near Stockholm) and Malmö. Additionally, the railway logistics company complements the domestic Swedish network with the national line between Trelleborg, Malmö, and Eskilstuna. Currently, seven round trips per week are operated on this route as an open train system.
