Dr.-Ing. Andreas Werner, 39, has been appointed as the “Chief Technology Officer” (CTO) and “Head of Technology Center (TC)” at Swisslog effective January 1, 2022. The trained electrical engineer with a doctorate in mechanical engineering and computer science is based in Dortmund, the competence center of Swisslog for robotics and new technologies.
(Buchs) He strengthens the management team of one of the world’s leading providers of automated intralogistics technologies, focusing primarily on the further development of data-driven solutions. “I am looking forward to my new role at Swisslog,” says Werner, who aims to significantly contribute to the expansion success of the Swiss company with his expertise in intralogistics, mobile robotics, software, and digitalization: “Together with my strong team, this is my greatest motivation.”
Andreas Werner comes from BEUMER Group, where he most recently served as “Divisional Director Innovation” and “Interim Divisional Director Software Solutions,” responsible for the expansion of new development locations, standardization and modularization, and project realization in the software sector. With his technical expertise and years of leadership experience, Andreas Werner has driven the establishment and optimization of complex digital structures there. He gained international experience mainly in Asia, Scandinavia, and Southern Europe. Before his time at BEUMER, Andreas Werner worked at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics, where he shaped the fields of the Internet of Things and swarm robotics in intralogistics in various roles.
The new CTO follows the strategy that Swisslog has been implementing for several years, consistently focusing on holistic robot- and data-based intralogistics solutions. In particular, proprietary mechatronic products, software solutions, and third-party technologies complete the technology portfolio. The global network of integration partners complements the offering, which is appreciated and utilized by customers in more than 50 countries.
