eFrexx Helps Shippers Optimize Freight Costs
Dec 13, 2021 at 6:22 PMOn January 15, 2022, the new customs IT application IMPOST is set to go live, which the customs authorities have developed for the customs and import VAT treatment of low-value shipments up to €150. This innovation is highly relevant for the e-commerce business. Simon Lembke, responsible for customs applications at DAKOSY, advises a quick transition of systems: “The Excel lists previously accepted by customs will soon be replaced.”
The software company DAKOSY has completed its own software development for the customs software ZODIAK GE and is ready for the launch date of IMPOST. This means that the Hamburg-based company is providing the e-commerce trade with an automated solution from the very beginning.
The challenge for price-sensitive and short-delivery-time-oriented e-commerce is to process bulk business quickly and with minimal personnel effort on the customs side. This requires a high degree of automation. “Overall, each package must go through three procedures during import – first the security procedure ICS, then the summary declaration, and finally the clearance for free circulation. The latter will be represented in the future by the IT application IMPOST,” Lembke clarifies the multi-stage process.
Three Automated Customs Processes
DAKOSY’s customs software solution automates each individual package through the three customs procedures. “The sender is informed of any deviations via status updates, for example, regarding a customs inspection. The requested package can be specifically identified among thousands of units, ensuring that the rest of the shipment is not affected by the delay,” explains Lembke. Only the customs-relevant raw data for the shipments is required as a basis for the customs application, which can be transmitted to DAKOSY via an interface or in Excel format.
The software service provider has extensive experience in the field of customs software. It is certified for all customs procedures in Germany with the customs system ATLAS and can be used cross-border in many EU neighboring countries. Approximately 2,000 freight forwarders, industrial and commercial companies in Europe use DAKOSY’s customs software ZODIAK.
