Dec 9, 2021 at 7:08 PMThe Deutsche Post DHL Group initiates the change at the top of the company. The Supervisory Board of Deutsche Post AG has extended the appointment of Dr. Frank Appel as CEO until May 4, 2023. His previous contract ran until October 31, 2022. Appel is to lead the Executive Board until the 2023 Annual General Meeting. Afterwards, Dr. Tobias Meyer, head of Post & Paket Deutschland, will take over.
(Bonn) Meyer joined the company in 2013 and has held various positions, including Head of Corporate Development, Chief Operating Officer at DHL Global Forwarding, Head of Operations and IT in the Post & Paket Deutschland division, and most recently since March 2019 as Head of the division and member of the Executive Board.
“With Tobias Meyer, a proven expert of the company takes over. He is the ideal candidate to successfully continue the course we have set. With the ‘Strategy 2025’, the Executive Board has successfully aligned the company with the major megatrends of digitalization, sustainability, globalization, and eCommerce,” said Dr. Nikolaus von Bomhard, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Post AG.
Von Bomhard continued: “We thank Frank Appel for being available for an orderly transition. In more than 13 years at the helm, he has accomplished outstanding achievements for Deutsche Post DHL Group. Frank Appel has made the company a globally leading logistics provider that connects people and markets and is a pioneer of global trade. Under Appel’s leadership, the company has raced from record to record; Deutsche Post DHL Group owes him a lot.”

Excellent Management Team
Dr. Frank Appel: “After careful consideration, I have decided not to stand for another full term. I do this with the best knowledge that Deutsche Post DHL Group is led by an excellent management team and supported by a highly motivated workforce. With Tobias Meyer, a top manager and great colleague takes over. Under his leadership, Post & Paket Deutschland achieved a turnaround. I could not wish for a better successor.”
Nikola Hagleitner takes over Post & Paket Deutschland
As part of the orderly transition, Tobias Meyer will already take over the corporate function of Global Business Services from Frank Appel in July 2022 and hand over the position as head of the Post & Paket Deutschland division to Nikola Hagleitner, previously head of sales for Post & Paket Deutschland. Hagleitner has been with the company since 2005 and has worked in three of the five divisions of Deutsche Post DHL Group. With experience in operational management, sales, and business development, she brings enormous experience to her new position.
Furthermore, the Supervisory Board has extended the contract of Oscar de Bok, Executive Board member for the DHL Supply Chain division, by 5 years until September 30, 2027.
