The Rhenus Group, a leading global logistics service provider, will neutralize the carbon dioxide emissions of all its LCL products by the year 2030. Starting in 2022, the freight shipped with the Rhenus Consolidation Box from the Hilden Gateway will be climate-neutral at no additional cost to customers. The service will gradually be introduced at all gateways where Rhenus operates worldwide.

The climate-neutral container consolidation is a new milestone in Rhenus’s sustainability strategy. In 2019, the Rhenus Group launched the world’s first CO2 reduction program for air freight, RHEGREEN. Since 2015, Rhenus has undergone an annual assessment by EcoVadis, an independent agency that evaluates corporate social responsibility activities according to international standards, and has received silver status for several years.
Global efforts for green logistics
Current efforts for green logistics worldwide include an annual tree planting campaign in India that has been ongoing for seven years, climate-neutral warehouse locations with green infrastructure such as renewable energy and LED lighting, as well as electric mobility and recyclable packaging in Asia, Europe, and North America, the introduction of energy management systems in Germany and the Netherlands, and a corporate forest by the Rhenus Group to support agroforestry projects. Rhenus continues to explore green ideas and new technologies in collaboration with research institutions, partners, and customers to make the global supply chain more sustainable.
