Oct 28, 2021 at 11:45 AMDachser will exclusively source renewable energy worldwide starting January 1, 2022. This will increase the logistics provider’s share of green electricity from around 60 to 100 percent across its 387 locations in 42 countries. The family-owned company had already switched to green electricity in Germany and the Netherlands.
(Kempten) Additionally, Dachser will significantly expand its own generation of renewable energy and is investing in the construction and expansion of photovoltaic systems on the roofs of its European logistics facilities and office buildings as a first step. By 2025, the current capacity will be more than quadrupled to over 20,000 kWp of installed power.
“We are implementing two fundamental components of our climate protection strategy by switching to the procurement of electricity from wind, solar, and hydropower worldwide while simultaneously expanding our own production of green electricity,” explains Stefan Hohm, Chief Development Officer (CDO) at Dachser. “With these current measures, we are reducing our CO2 footprint. At the same time, we are strengthening the production of green electricity with our demand and contributing to the expansion of generation capacities for renewable energies in Europe.”
Long-term Climate Protection Strategy
Efficiency, innovation, and inclusive responsibility: these are the cornerstones of Dachser’s long-term climate protection strategy. The initiatives of the family business aim at efficient logistics processes, energy savings, and technical innovations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with the 2-degree target of the Paris Agreement as well as the climate protection goals of the European Union and many other countries. Dachser collaborates with customers and partners who also want to actively shape the transformation of logistics towards low and zero-emission technologies. Employees are also closely involved in climate protection activities. Additionally, there is social and societal engagement beyond the direct business interests of the company.
