Logivest with Current Report on the Logistics Real Estate Region Hamburg
Oct 21, 2021 at 5:11 PMIt has been 25 years since DB Schenker opened a branch in Verona – now the company is moving into a new facility in the Interporto logistics park. More than 20 locations are connected to the new terminal – important routes lead to Germany, France, and Austria. The terminal features 60 gates over an area of more than 40,000 m2.
(Essen/Verona) “The construction of the new hub in Verona was a very important project for us, and it is exciting to finally see it completed,” says Francesca Tommasini, head of the branch in Verona. “Our main goal is to provide our customers with the best possible support, focusing on the continuous improvement of the quality, speed, and flexibility of the services we offer. The facility has been designed with great care and a lot of attention to detail to provide our employees with a pleasant and environmentally friendly environment, both in the warehouse and in the offices.”
Sustainability Considered from the Start
In the construction of the new, state-of-the-art facility, not only the best technologies and materials were used, but sustainability was also taken into account. The new building has been certified with a “very good” rating according to the BREEAM assessment, meaning it meets very high environmental standards. To avoid wasting valuable resources such as water, a rainwater system has been set up for the toilets and the irrigation of green areas. The facility is also equipped with photovoltaic modules. The lighting system is designed to save energy – it only turns on in the rooms that are actually used by employees.
The Terminal
The building, constructed with a single arch bridge and therefore without pillars, covers an area of about 7,500 m2. A key feature of the warehouse is that it allows for free and unobstructed movement, enabling and optimizing cross-docking activities for import and export operations.
