Futuricum E-Trucks Win Green Business Award 2021

The Swiss cleantech company Designwerk wins the Green Business Award 2021 with its E-Truck brand Futuricum, which annually honors Swiss companies for their combination of sustainable practices and economic success. The company thus sets another example for electromobility in commercial vehicles.

(Winterthur) The Green Business Award annually recognizes Swiss companies with the best solutions for combining sustainable practices and economic success. The prominent jury selected three finalists from countless applicants and 36 nominated companies. In the final round, Futuricum was able to convince with its concept of converting diesel vehicles to fully electrified E-Trucks. The 16-member main jury, led by jury president Doris Leuthard, ultimately chose the winner from Winterthur based on ecological and economic advantages.

Adrian Melliger, Managing Director of Designwerk Group and pitch participant, is pleased. “We are pioneers in electric commercial vehicles and feel confirmed by this award on our path to achieving entrepreneurial success in an ecologically meaningful way with the right technologies, ideas, and employees.”

Economic Advantages

On the economic side, examining the cumulative acquisition, energy, and maintenance costs over 5 to 10 years quickly reveals the advantages of E-Trucks.

An example of ecological sustainability is the reduced emissions. An electric garbage truck from Futuricum consumes 190 kWh per 100 kilometers in operation. This corresponds to a diesel equivalent of 19.6 liters. In comparison, a diesel vehicle in collection operation consumes up to 90 liters per 100 kilometers. Thus, a customer can save about 80 tons of CO2 per year and operate quietly.
