Combined Transport Increases Capacity Between Ludwigshafen and Barcelona
Sep 22, 2021 at 12:06 PMDHL Freight, one of the leading providers of road transport in Europe, has received GDP certification (Good Distribution Practice for human medicines) for its two Swiss locations in Pratteln and Buchs. This award certifies that the logistics service provider meets the organization and execution of the transport of pharmaceutical products and medicines according to specified EU standards.
(Bonn) “When transporting pharmaceutical shipments, not only the safety of the products but also that of the supply chain must be ensured. The certification proves that we pay attention to the highest quality and are a reliable partner for pharmaceutical companies. After our extensive preparations and the receipt of the certification, we can now expand our service offering to include the area of pharmaceutical logistics,” announces Mike Karcher, Head of Road Freight and Customs, DHL Freight Switzerland.
The certification for the two locations in the Basel region and Eastern Switzerland is therefore particularly essential. GDP is a fundamental requirement for pharmaceutical companies, which must ensure not only the safety of their products but also that of the supply chain. Accordingly, pharmaceutical companies place great importance on the GDP certification of their potential logistics service providers. The region is considered the heart of the pharmaceutical industry, with many of the major companies in the sector having their headquarters here. By offering full truckload services, medical and pharmaceutical goods are to be transported to various European markets. Through collaboration with DHL Global Forwarding, combined solutions from road and air freight can also be offered, for example, for the import or export of pharmaceuticals and medical goods, where GDP-compliant transport from pickup to delivery is crucial. This guarantees the highest service and quality standards across all transport modes from a single source.
