Sep 17, 2021 at 4:05 PMDSV received this year’s Climate Strategy Award, which was personally presented to CEO Jens Bjørn Andersen during a ceremony in Copenhagen on Wednesday. The award is given to a Danish company that acts strategically and ambitiously and excels in actively addressing climate change.
(Kopenhagen) On Wednesday afternoon, DSV was announced as the winner of the Danish Climate Strategy Award at a ceremony hosted by EY in Denmark and the Danish Chamber of Commerce.
The Climate Strategy Award is one of three awards presented that day and goes to a company whose “strategy includes particularly ambitious goals and measures to reduce the company’s greenhouse gas emissions or that contributes significantly to reducing society’s greenhouse gas emissions through its business model.”
Jens Bjørn Andersen, Group CEO of DSV, personally accepted the award on stage on Wednesday evening: “It is an honor for DSV and for me personally to receive the Climate Strategy Award because it recognizes our business-oriented sustainability strategy, our ambitious, science-based goals, and the measures we have initiated to reduce CO² emissions. At DSV, we work strategically with sustainability, and this award is a testament to the tremendous efforts of DSV employees.”
“Today, we can be proud of this award and our achievements. But it is important that we turn it into motivation tomorrow to continue our path with the goal of doing even more to tackle the pressing global climate challenge in the future.”
Industry Pioneer
As part of the justification for the award, the jury stated that DSV is a pioneer and a role model in sustainability within the industry, among other things by being one of the very first companies with recognized science-based targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Furthermore, the jury emphasized that they wanted to reward DSV for taking on significant responsibility, setting ambitious goals, and implementing these goals through global initiatives.
Detailed Pre-Qualification Process
Every company considered in this category underwent a detailed pre-qualification process and an audit with an EY auditor before the entire material was presented to the jury. The winner of the Climate Strategy Award is decided by a diverse jury composed of esteemed representatives from politics, business, universities, and NGOs.
Criteria for the Climate Strategy Award
The following criteria were used by the jury to evaluate companies in the Climate Strategy Award category:
- Are the company’s goals for CO2 reduction ambitious, and are the company’s largest emissions actively addressed?
- Is the company considered a pioneer and trendsetter in its industry regarding climate change adaptation?
- Has the company initiated significant concrete measures to achieve its climate goals?
