Sep 13, 2021 at 6:47 PMThe Raiffeisen Entrepreneur Award “Golden David” in Switzerland stands for courage, commitment, future, and sustainability, and this year it is awarded to the logistics service provider Krummen Kerzers AG. The decision for the award was influenced by investments in climate protection and sustainability.
(Kerzers) “We do more”: This is not just a slogan, as the seven-member jury of the Raiffeisen Entrepreneur Award is convinced after their visit to Krummen Kerzers. They honored the family business on Thursday evening with the “Golden David”. In particular, the investments in climate protection and sustainability impressed the jury.
With the “Golden David”, the Raiffeisen banks recognize outstanding companies that create a sustainable future. The jury proceeded based on a detailed criteria catalog and evaluated the nominated companies among other things on their sustainability, values, ethics, and entrepreneurial success. “All nominated companies achieve great things as entrepreneurs, but the visit to Krummen particularly impressed the jury,” said jury president Karen Wiedmer. Team spirit, know-how, and commitment to climate protection were very evident during the company visit.
Investments in Sustainable Technologies
As a logistics company, Krummen Kerzers is right in the middle of the focal issue of CO2. The truck is often portrayed as the enemy when it comes to CO2 emissions in traffic or congestion. Therefore, it is even more gratifying that a company from the transport sector was able to prevail against innovative solar modules, avalanche protection, or timber construction and take home the “Golden David”.
“Our core business, transport, fundamentally has very little sex appeal. That we still come out as winners is extraordinarily pleasing and a great recognition of our commitment. The award motivates us to continue on this path,” say brothers Hans and Peter Krummen, who have successfully led the company for 25 years in the second generation.
Courage to Take New Paths
The jury of the Raiffeisen banks was able to see for themselves during the nomination how important sustainable technologies are for Krummen Kerzers. For example, an electric tractor from the Swiss manufacturer Designwerk was available for viewing. “We are particularly proud of the investment in the Futuricum tractor. It is the first of its kind, and the vehicle heralds a new era of electromobility in heavy traffic,” Hans Krummen is excited about the latest addition to the fleet.
About 70 percent of Krummen Kerzers’ investment volume flows into sustainable drive technologies. “We consider climate change to be the greatest threat to our and future generations. Waiting is no longer an option. Therefore, we take on the entrepreneurial risk and invest in new technologies,” says Peter Krummen. An attitude that also contributes to an extraordinarily good team spirit in the company, which the jury also recognized with praise.
