Gebrüder Weiss opens branch in Bavarian Straubing

On October 1, the Austrian full-service logistics provider Gebrüder Weiss will open a branch in Straubing. With this opening, the land transport network in southern Germany will be further strengthened, and Straubing will be connected to the global network. A property with an area of 45,000 m² has been acquired for this purpose.

(Lauterach/Straubing) With the opening of a new branch in Straubing at the beginning of October this year, the international transport and logistics service provider Gebrüder Weiss is taking another step towards consolidating its land transport network in southern Germany. The basis for the location in the Lower Bavarian economic center is a newly acquired existing property in the industrial area at Sachsenring with an area of 45,000 square meters.

“Within our growing land transport network in southern Germany, we will develop Straubing into a hub where companies from the region can access the entire service portfolio of Gebrüder Weiss,” announces Wolfram Senger-Weiss, Chairman of the Executive Board of Gebrüder Weiss. In the medium term, his company will create 60 to 80 new attractive jobs in all logistics areas at the new Straubing location, and in the long term up to 120.

Supplement to existing locations

The new location in Straubing complements the existing southern German branches of Gebrüder Weiss in Aldingen, Esslingen, Lindau, Memmingen, Nuremberg, and Passau, as well as the most recent location in Waldkraiburg following the acquisition of the Lode forwarding company. “With the new location in Straubing, we are creating a close network of land transport locations from Nuremberg to the Czech Republic and Austria, thus providing customers from industry and trade with direct access to the Europe-wide Gebrüder Weiss network,” explains Werner Dettenthaler, Managing Director of Land Transport Germany at Gebrüder Weiss.
