(Weinheim) trans-o-flex, one of the leading full-service specialized logistics providers and experts in actively temperature-controlled express solutions for pharmaceuticals and high-quality goods from the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and consumer electronics sectors in Germany and Austria, today published its results for the first half of 2021. Despite lockdown measures in the first quarter, which led to a temporary decline in transported packages, the company was able to increase both revenue and operational profitability compared to the previous year due to the continued strong demand for specialized logistics solutions for medical products and other sensitive goods.
Thus, the revenue of the trans-o-flex group grew by 4.6 percent to 264 million euros (H1 2020: 252 million euros) during the reporting period. The adjusted EBITDA increased by 4.0 percent compared to H1 2020 to 31 million euros. Continuing on a growth path
Wolfgang P. Albeck, CEO of trans-o-flex: “We are continuing on a growth path. The pandemic shows us how important fast, safe, and reliable logistics is, especially in the pharmaceutical sector. As the German market leader in actively temperature-controlled pharmaceutical transport and experts in express specialized logistics, we are the reliable partner for our customers. The performance measures of recent years are now paying off. In the market for pharmaceuticals and express logistics for sensitive goods, we can demonstrate solid growth even in times of crisis. This also makes us optimistic for the second half of the year.”
On its growth path, trans-o-flex benefits from mega-trends such as demographic change, which leads to an increasing demand for medications, and the rising demand for express solutions driven by increased online shopping. At the same time, stricter EU-wide safety standards for pharmaceutical logistics (Good Distribution Practice) are raising quality requirements across the entire distribution chain. This leads to a continuously increasing demand for the actively temperature-controlled specialized logistics of trans-o-flex.
Growth market pharmaceutical logistics
The secure delivery of COVID tests and vaccines underscores the importance of highly sensitive pharmaceutical logistics – a market with high growth potential. Between 2020 and 2025, a market growth for pharmaceutical logistics and the transport of other high-quality goods in Germany and Austria is expected to rise from 9.9 billion euros to approximately 12.2 billion euros, an increase of 23 percent.
