Jul 23, 2021 at 8:15 PMThe Supervisory Board of Häfen und Güterverkehr Köln AG has appointed Dr. Jens-Albert Oppel (53) as Chief Operating Officer (COO). The previously two-member board, consisting of Chairman Uwe Wedig (CEO) and Wolfgang Birlin (CFO), will thus be expanded. In his role, Dr. Oppel will be responsible not only for managing the operational business but also for the areas of digitization, quality, and process management.
(Cologne) “With Dr. Oppel, we have been able to attract an experienced manager who is well-versed in both the trimodal logistics business and the markets of the HGK Group,” says Susana dos Santos Herrmann, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of HGK AG.
Start in early 2022
Dr. Oppel is joining HGK from Transgas, a transport and logistics company specializing in liquefied gas, where he serves as Managing Director. Previously, he worked as Managing Director at the logistics service provider Seacon Logistics in Germany and as spokesperson for the management of Niedersachsen Ports (NPorts). He will begin his role at HGK at the beginning of 2022.
