Jul 23, 2021 at 4:41 PMDHL Supply Chain is planning a new state-of-the-art, climate-neutral logistics center, thereby expanding the Life Sciences and Healthcare Campus in Florstadt. The approximately 32,000 square meter building offers an even improved service portfolio and strengthens the economic region of Rhine-Main. The new building expands the existing capacities of the multi-user campus for pharmaceutical and medical products in Florstadt to over 70,000 square meters of logistics space.
(Bonn) DHL Supply Chain, the contract logistics specialist division of Deutsche Post DHL Group, is currently building an approximately 32,000 square meter logistics center in Florstadt, 35 km north of Frankfurt am Main, with an opening scheduled for the end of 2021. This new building will expand the existing capacities of the multi-user campus for pharmaceutical and medical products in Florstadt, which currently consists of two logistics centers, to over 70,000 square meters of logistics space. From here, markets across Europe will be supplied in the future.
With the new location, customers in the pharmaceutical and medical products sector will have additional storage areas available in temperature zones of 15-25°C, 2-8°C, and -24°C. A separate area of 1,750 square meters for the storage of hazardous materials rounds off the offering. The entire warehouse features constant temperature control, state-of-the-art safety and alarm systems, as well as all essential Life Sciences and Healthcare certifications, such as GDP and GMP, as well as ISO 13485.
Continuously Expanding the Pharmaceutical Business
“One of our main goals is to continuously expand our business with the pharmaceutical sector. Especially in key markets for us, such as Germany and Europe, we want to grow and help companies with outsourcing and optimizing areas outside their core business – such as logistics,” emphasizes Rainer Haag, Managing Director DHL Supply Chain Germany & Alps.
The multi-user campus in Florstadt is located just a few kilometers from the center of the Frankfurt Rhine-Main economic region and is thus ideally connected to Frankfurt Airport, the DHL parcel and express network, as well as rail and highway networks.
Team is Flexible and Experienced
“Due to the high number of implementations over many years, our team in Florstadt is very flexible and experienced and can take on any type of contract logistics at short notice, plan, implement, and operate logistics solutions for customers, and quickly respond to changes in day-to-day operations,” says Murat Erzurumluoglu, Business Unit Director Life Sciences & Healthcare DHL Supply Chain Germany & Alps. “We are pleased that with this consistent development, we can further improve the already good conditions at the location,” adds Matthias Wellms, Head of Business Development for the Life Sciences & Healthcare sector DHL Supply Chain Germany & Alps.
The climate-neutral warehouse, which features photovoltaics, heat pumps, and a solar wall, and is certified with the Gold Standard by the German Sustainable Building Council, will open at the end of 2021. DHL Supply Chain is thus fulfilling its responsibility for sustainable action and making an important contribution to Deutsche Post DHL Group’s goal of zero-emission logistics by 2050. In addition, DHL Supply Chain enables its customers to make their own supply chains more sustainable.
