Jun 22, 2021 at 8:13 PMThe Alfred Schuon GmbH is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. On the occasion of the birthday, the logistics company has acquired one of only 400 Mercedes Actros Edition 2 trucks and had it elaborately designed. From the transport company founded by Alfred Schuon in 1951, a Europe-wide logistics service provider has emerged. Today, Schuon offers not only transportation but also contract logistics for customers from various industries. To conclude the anniversary, a family celebration for employees will take place in September.
(Haiterbach) When the bricklayer apprentice Alfred Schuon founded his transport company on June 22, 1951, he owned just one truck. Today, Alfred Schuon GmbH employs 550 staff, operates 330 dispatched vehicles across Europe, and manages around 80,000 square meters of logistics space. “For seven decades, the Alfred Schuon brand has stood for tailored transport and logistics solutions,” says Alexander Schuon, managing director of Alfred Schuon GmbH. Together with his father Theo Schuon, he has been running the family business in its third generation.
For the birthday celebration, the logistics service provider has commissioned a striking anniversary truck. The tractor unit, a strictly limited Mercedes Actros Edition 2, features many special functions and increased comfort. Schuon had the superstructure manufactured by H&W Nutzfahrzeugtechnik in Vreden (NRW), and the demanding design was created by the long-time partner for advertising technology, Werbe Haug from Freudenstadt. The “One of 400” will later be used as a jumbo trailer truck, including a forklift for daily operations. “We are proud of our long history and thank the companies and people in the region who have accompanied us on this journey,” says Schuon.
Jumbo and logistics sectors to be expanded
For the future, Schuon plans to further expand its main business area with international large-volume transports. “We want to be among the leading jumbo freight forwarders in Europe in the long term,” says the managing director. The logistics sector is also to be strengthened. The forward-looking business with lithium-ion batteries for the automotive industry is increasingly coming into focus: “Our hazardous goods warehouse in Wildberg is now fully occupied, and we are receiving further inquiries.” At the same time, Schuon wants to be a pioneer in green logistics and therefore now also offers climate-neutral transports: “This way, we fulfill our social responsibility as a logistics service provider,” explains Schuon.
