Jun 21, 2021 at 7:17 PMDr. Andreas Bachhofer will become the new head of the truck location and production at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Wörth on August 1, 2021. He succeeds Dr. Matthias Jurytko, who has been managing director and CEO of the fuel cell joint venture cellcentric since June 1, 2021.
(Stuttgart / Wörth am Rhein) – Personnel changes at Daimler Trucks at the truck location in Wörth am Rhein. Dr. Andreas Bachhofer (51) will be the new head of the location and production at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Wörth. He will take over responsibility for the largest assembly plant of Mercedes-Benz trucks with around 10,000 employees starting August 1, 2021.
“The commercial vehicle industry is facing an immense technological transformation – this also means a change for our production sites. The continuous development of the Wörth site, especially with the preparations for the start of series production of the eActros, has already been consistently advanced under the leadership of his predecessor Matthias Jurytko. With Andreas Bachhofer, we have gained a very experienced colleague with proven production and transformation expertise to lead the site, who will consistently further develop Wörth. I wish him much success in this important position,” says Karin Rådström, member of the board of Daimler Truck AG, responsible for Mercedes-Benz trucks.
Dr. Andreas Bachhofer was most recently part of the Transformation Office at Mercedes-Benz trucks, where he focused on designing and implementing lean processes and leadership structures. Previously, he was responsible for the production and development site in Aksaray (Turkey) from 2017 to 2020. Throughout his career at Daimler Trucks, he has held various positions at Mercedes-Benz trucks, including head of quality management and head of life-cycle management. He began his career at Daimler in 1995 as a doctoral student at the Sindelfingen plant and has since gained extensive international leadership experience at Mercedes-Benz Cars and Daimler Trucks.

The largest truck assembly plant of Mercedes-Benz Trucks in Wörth am Rhein was founded in 1963 and produces the Mercedes-Benz trucks Arocs, Atego – and for more than 20 years the world’s most successful heavy truck Actros. The Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks Econic, Unimog, and Zetros are also built here. Up to 470 trucks, manufactured exactly according to customer specifications, can leave the Wörth plant each day. Customers in over 150 countries appreciate the “Quality made in Wörth.” The location on the Rhine is the competence center for Mercedes-Benz trucks in the global production network. In addition, the Mercedes-Benz plant in Wörth has over 50 years of experience in CKD production (Completely Knocked Down) and supplies vehicle kits to numerous overseas markets for local assembly – to date more than 750,000 kits. With around 10,000 employees, the Mercedes-Benz plant in Wörth is the second-largest employer in Rhineland-Palatinate.
