May 17, 2021 at 7:42 PMCelebi Cargo installs the FAIR@Link slot booking software from Dakosy. Air freight is booming. Especially at Frankfurt Airport, the freight business has been running at full speed since the beginning of the pandemic. To ensure that the high freight volume can be processed smoothly and quickly, proactive planning and coordination, as achieved with the FAIR@Link ramp control system, is essential.
(Hamburg) For Christopher Licht, Managing Director of Celebi Cargo GmbH, this situation was decisive in pursuing the implementation of FAIR@Link rigorously: “After the target date of June 1 was set, we worked closely with the platform operator DAKOSY to establish a detailed project plan to start on time. We wanted to provide drivers with smooth and, in particular, Corona-compliant processes as quickly as possible.”
Implementation is on schedule
Meanwhile, the implementation is nearing completion and is right on schedule. The efforts of the past months have paid off. As a final step, Celebi is currently informing all involved truckers and freight forwarders in a timely manner about the mandatory pre-registration. “Of course, vehicles for which no slots are booked in the first days will also be processed. However, drivers must make the slot booking on-site at our self-service terminals, so they will return at a later time and can be processed according to the subsequently generated slot windows,” Licht explains.
The new processes are designed to protect drivers and staff in freight acceptance as much as possible from potential infections with the coronavirus. Companies reserve slots for processing in FAIR@Link before starting their journey. This allows Celebi to receive all information about planned deliveries and pickups in advance, plan their resources accordingly, and avoid queues at the processing counters. “As soon as a slot changes, the system automatically informs the affected driver via SMS and sends an updated time window. This helps to alleviate any peaks, and we can ensure the required minimum distance between drivers and/or our employees even better. It is crucial that everyone adheres to the following rule: book a slot in advance, accurately capture data, and then arrive on time,” Licht emphasizes.
Third Handling Agent as a Customer
For the platform operator DAKOSY, the start of slot booking at Celebi marks another important milestone for the digitization of traffic at Frankfurt Airport, emphasizes Ulrich Wrage, Board Member of DAKOSY AG, stating: “With Celebi, we are now connecting the third handling agent to the platform; more are in the pipeline. With each additional handler, the efficiency gain for the community increases. In addition to the handling agents, freight carriers can also better plan their pickup and delivery processes, thereby saving trips. This, in turn, alleviates traffic in Cargo City, reduces congestion, and accelerates processing times overall.”
