May 4, 2021 at 6:10 PMThe Logistics and Freight Forwarding Cooperation (KoLoS) based in Dieburg joins the European Cargo Alliance of International Forwarders AG (ELVIS) on May 1 of this year. This solidifies the position of the alliance based in Alzenau as the largest transport network in Europe. The currently around 20 KoLoS partners will receive a transitional offer in the coming days.
(Alzenau/Dieburg) “The fundamental idea of KoLoS and ELVIS is aligned in central areas. Therefore, the merger is a step from which both sides benefit equally,” says Jochen Eschborn. The ELVIS board refers to the common approach of both alliances to network medium-sized transport and forwarding companies more closely in order to leverage synergies through cooperation. A central difference: While KoLoS has primarily focused on smaller companies in recent years, ELVIS mainly represents companies with 40 to over 1,000 trucks.
The market development in the transport and logistics industry is particularly challenging for medium-sized transport and forwarding companies. For many of these companies, cooperations organized by alliances like ELVIS and KoLoS are a necessary prerequisite to survive in this environment. However, developments in the industry have shown that this also requires a certain size on the part of the alliances. KoLoS founder Ernst Mäußler: “We recently had to acknowledge that our cooperation no longer meets this criterion to counter the growing challenges of the market.”
Benefits for Both Parties
The merger with ELVIS is the logical consequence of this realization. Mäußler: “Among the truck transport cooperations in Germany and Europe, ELVIS is undoubtedly the first address. I am all the more pleased about the opportunities that our collaboration opens up for KoLoS members.” Mäußler himself will contribute his years of industry experience and his network in an advisory capacity to the ELVIS alliance.
ELVIS board member Jochen Eschborn also sees only advantages for all parties involved through this step: “This gives us the opportunity to expand the impact of our alliance and to tailor our offerings even more specifically to the needs of the companies connected to us.” To ensure that the currently around 20 KoLoS partners can also benefit from this, they will receive a transitional offer in the coming days.
