May 2, 2021 at 4:01 PMIn Sulz am Neckar, Baden-Württemberg, TGW is building a highly automated intralogistics solution for Heinrich Kipp Werk by the end of 2021. The German manufacturer of standard elements and operating parts can reduce throughput times and accelerate delivery to its industrial customers with the powerful shuttle system. The central element of the project is the implementation of SAP EWM.
(Marchtrenk) Heinrich Kipp Werk is a German manufacturer of clamping technology, standard elements, and operating parts. The intralogistics of the family-owned company, founded in 1919, increasingly reached its performance and capacity limits due to growth. Therefore, TGW was commissioned to build a highly automated shipping warehouse, including full SAP integration.
Software Expertise as SAP Silver Partner
SAP EWM (Extended Warehouse Management) is a software system for warehouse management that allows for the planning, control, and monitoring of manual and automated processes in distribution centers. As a certified SAP Silver Partner, TGW supports its customers in the selection, configuration, and customization of SAP software solutions. The TGW Competence Center consists of experienced IT experts who accompany the process from planning and process optimization to implementation and commissioning – with tailored, future-proof solutions. “We are very pleased about the first SAP EWM project – and that we can realize it together with Kipp,” emphasizes Johann Steinkellner, CEO Central Europe at TGW. “The order is not only a testament to our intralogistics expertise but also to our software expertise.”
Powerful Solution
The scalable system will not be equipped with shuttle vehicles on all shelf levels. At the end of each aisle, there is a lift that allows the shuttles to change levels. As performance demands increase, the system can be quickly expanded by deploying additional shuttles – without extensive remodeling. This makes the solution optimally tailored to Kipp’s requirements regarding performance and throughput. The TGW shuttle technology converts braking energy into drive energy, thus making an important contribution to green logistics. All functional areas are also connected with energy-efficient KingDrive® conveyor technology.
Partner of Choice
“Our new logistics center will not only meet the capacity and performance needs of tomorrow but also the customer requirements of the future,” describes Michael Würtz, Head of Logistics at Heinrich Kipp Werk. “A decisive reason why we chose TGW as a partner was the high technical focus during the proposal phase. TGW impressed us with innovative ideas for our challenges. It was not just a facility that was offered, but a comprehensive solution optimized for our needs. We are convinced that EWM as a warehouse management system and TGW as a partner will ensure the rapid establishment of an expanded, future-proof logistics center.”
